Traps That Will Securely Catch And Get Rid Of Gophers That Has Been Bugging You

By Richard Cox

Some found them cute a lot look at them like pest. Maybe because they are sometimes, they dig holes in our garden. That is why we look for a way to How to Trap a Gopher.

One way to find the tunnel is by poking the hole with stick in which it can be probe in the ground. One might use a rebar with rounded end to do it. It starts by a guessing game as where the tunnel will be and then push it into the ground. If tunnel could be feel then good but if not then try again.

When the trap in place, you have to secure it safety lines with stake so the injured gopher could not run away with the trap. Those safety lines could be made from material that the gopher would not be able to cut or gnaw through. It should be metal material like chain or heavy thick wire and it will work well.

There is another method and that is to dig a hole that should be larger around the mound. Make sure it is all cleaned out and make it bigger evenly. The times when gopher plugs their hole, they fill back their passage and when dig out under the pile, there is no passage to be discover. But it was there, one should just be preserver to find it.

Do not forget to cover the trap hole with anything, board, cardboard or plastic. You should keep it dark. The gophers have impressive hearing but poor vision but that does not mean it cannot see light. If they detect that there is light in the ambush you made then they are not likely to come walk in it. Now you will just have to wait for it to find it and hope it is the right size

Spotting a new activity is easy because it was fresh. But if rain interferes then it will be different to tell the old from new and vice versa. Though that hole in the ground would be easy to identify base on memories that you remember, that moment where certainty as to what was made there.

If you return back and find out that the hole has been find and filled in then do not be surprised. This will happen if there were two holes and you only discover the first one. If that happens that there are two openings then it should be better to put trap in both.

Normally, the passage will be a foot under the surface, but they can dig up to two feet. In rare cases, the clues to finding it through patterns in dirt near the mound. The tunnel usually is in direction away from the entrance of the mound. If one tunnel is found then it will usually lead to main tunnel.

After discovering the passage, you have to fill it back the button until it was level with gopher tunnel. This will help by not giving it a place to drop their dirt. They will have to come out and push its dirt up. To solve this, you can also fill inside the hole as much as you can so you could catch that pests.
