Fitting A Handlebar It Is More Art Than Science With Toronto Electric Motor Repairs

By Joshua Murray

For the novice bike enthusiast there will come a time an impasse is reached between maintenance and cost. Where little jobs turn into big jobs that often cost money and for some lead to neglect that can and often leads to a dangerous motorcycle. There s a fix however, that will remain fixed in terms of its relative price to fix and ease as the location of the gas cap. Toronto Electric Motor Repairs can help you to handle these kind of jobs about your electrical motorbike.

For example one needs to take into consideration whether one wants a bar that s higher, wider or even both. Each has its pitfalls, with higher mounted bars a person subjects themselves to more wind resistance compared to bars that are mounted lower, whereas lower mounted bars may prove cumbersome and hamper low speed maneuverability.

Accuracy is key. In order to avoid spending a fortune replacing incorrect parts that were brought the first time around, it is very important that a person who seeks to make a change to their steering column pay close attention to the requirements needed in order to make a replacement and if they have chosen to go the DIY route, that the right set of tools are used in order to avoid a risk of damaging the bike.

The second step is to remove the instruments mounted on the handles this means the grips at the edge of each corner. Different manufacturer s install them differently so some may just pop off with a really hard pull while others are stuck on with glue, requiring more than a pull. Once the grips are off, do not forget to remove the throttle control, the brakes and the mirrors because those will be very important later on.

On the plus side, this does give you as the owner a chance to customize where everything goes. Not so much the mirrors as you still need them to see what s going on behind you but the placement of the horn, starter, switches for what turns on what and so on. In that regard, the bike can be transformed into one that s truly one of a kind.

Before remounting the handlebar. One should take the time gauge the position they would preferably want there new handle to be in. A nice little trick is often to be seated naturally as you would be on a motorcycle and close their eyes. Extend their arms out to whichever position feels natural and then make a note of it when they open their eyes.

Once the bar is firmly in placed and centered. The job gets a whole lot easier because from that point, the clamps need to be put back on and tightened, as do the throttle, brakes and mirror. All of which need to be returned to their original position.

If everything has been done right, then a successful merging of art and science should be performed before your very eyes. Thus, the final product should lead to the science making the motor bike even better to ride and handle with a dash of added comfort and the art should make the feeling of the science feel unexplainable and that much more enjoyable. What matters most is that your happy with your decision.
