Looking For Denver Pool Table Refelting

By Deborah Nelson

Pool is a popular sport and is played in thousands of bars, clubs and homes all over the world. Over a period of time the surface or felt tables will suffer wear and it may be ripped or damaged. When the playing surface is badly damaged you will be looking for denver pool table refelting and there some very important things to be considered beforehand.

You will find contact details for businesses in your local phone directory and you can find adverts around the neighborhood. Browsing the web can also produce some good results and there are a lot of companies that advertise online. It is useful to make a careful note of the measurements of your table before you call a company so that they can calculate the correct price for the work.

The fitters that carry out the maintenance of tables are very experienced and skilled in their craft. There are companies that will send a technician to your premises and they will recover your tables. The prices you pay will depend on the grade of cloth to be fitted, hours taken to fit it and it is useful to get a few quotes to compare prices.

When you have contacted a company, and made an appointment, one of their engineers will come to inspect the job. They will examine the whole table to make certain there are no other faults that need attention. If any other repair work is to be carried out they will advise you beforehand and explain the reasons why it needs to be done.

The first job is to remove the old covering and this needs to be done properly. The rails and pockets are then removed and checked for damage. The old felt can then be taken off and the slate bed inspected and cleaned ready for the new felt. The slate needs to be checked and any tiny imperfections that are spotted need to be filled with a specialized resin or wax.

You are usually given a choice of felt and this is either a standard hard wearing covering or a professional grade cloth. After trimming it to the correct size, it is then stretched properly to ensure an even playing surface. When the glue is dry, the area around the pockets can be secured with staples. The side rails are then covered and refitted and everything is checked to make sure it is in order.

When the recovering job is complete the final thing to do is check to make sure everything is level and in line. Using a spirit level and shims will ensure that everything is level and that the balls do not roll off course. Some markings will then be added to the cloth with a special marker pen and the work is complete.

Pool tables that are used regularly should be properly maintained, cleaned and kept in good order. The playing surface should be brushed daily to get rid of the chalk dust and other tiny pieces of debris should be removed. If you spot any tears or other problem with the cloth then you should stop playing and get the cloth replaced.
