Regularly wash your hands especially when you come from the toilet. The toilet is loaded with a lot of germs that can be spread to other areas within your house. There is a prescribed method of washing your hands to ensure that all areas are covered. Teach children how to thoroughly clean their hands because they will be touching everything, including food immediately they leave the toilet.

Stop the kids from sharing personal items. This is a golden rule for life to apply to adults as well. Personal effects like ear buds, tooth brush, water bottles and lip balms should not be shared. They come too close to the body and collect a lot of germs on the surface, making it easier to transmit to the other person.

Cover your mouth when sneezing and coughing. This rule should also extend to read avoid spitting anywhere and everywhere. Sneezing should be done at the crook of the elbow or on a tissue. Health experts discourage you from sneezing into the hand because it makes the spread of germs easier. Wash your hands after sneezing because you have collected a lot of germs in the process.

Keep the hands away from your face. The hands come into contact with a lot of germs. The delicate nature of the face means that these germs can easily be spread. It is especially sensitive for kids who catch a lot of dirt as they move around. Take precaution to ensure that children do not take their hands to the nose, ears and mouth.

Have a routine that ensures that your entire house is clean. This will keep the number of germs in your house at the lowest level. Counter tops, tables, utensils and floors easily collect germs especially when they stay long without cleaning. Use disinfectants that are natural to ensure that germs do not grow resistant and lender these disinfectants ineffective.

Maintain the home and surfaces as dry as possible. This includes the bathroom and kitchen that come into contact with water all the time. Moisture and high humidity levels create the perfect environment for germs to breed. It makes it easy for people to come into contact with these germs and carry them to other areas.

Adequate ventilation and lighting are natural ways to deal with germs. Circulation of fresh air disrupts the multiplication of germs. The presence of natural light and heat from the sun will keep germ population low.

Monitor and maintain high air quality in your house. There are gadgets that will measure humidity and general air quality. Routines like drawing curtains and opening windows help to maintain excellent air quality around the house. A home that has pets requires a lot of attention because some germs can spread through these pets.
