The Benefits Of 24 Hour Roadside Help Coverage

By Joseph Wood

Most people could not function without a car. You may have a long commute every day back and forth to work, and public transportation just would not work. Your family may love quick weekend road trips as well, for which buses also would not work. But sometimes your beloved car has issues that cause you to be stranded somewhere. In those cases, it is advisable to have a 24 hour roadside help plan.

There is a variety of services offered by roadside assistance providers. Not two offer the exact same set of services, but most offer the basics, which includes sending somewhat out to your emergency situation any time of day or night. This generally includes all weekends and holidays as well, because flat tires do not stop just because of a holiday.

Flat tires are a frequent call for this type of service since they are hard to change if you have never done it before. Luckily, you likely have a spare or temporary tire in your trunk, so when the service person shows up, they can quickly remove the old one and place it in your trunk for you, then put the spare on so you can get back on the road and back to your schedule.

Sometimes a breakdown cannot be fixed as easily as replacing a tire and requires the assistance of a mechanic. In this case, the person sent to assist you will happily tow it to the nearest garage to get it fixed. There is generally a limit on how far they will go as part of your coverage, which varies from plan to plan. However, if you need to go further, they will simply charge you an extra fee.

There are a couple of really easy reasons you need assistance that take just minutes to fix. One of them is running out of gas. The service can dispatch a truck to you with a full can of fuel to pour into your tank. If you just need a jump start, then jumper cables are a part of any roadside assistance package to get you going.

Perhaps you accidentally locked your keys in the car. Or maybe you just lost your keys and cannot find them right now. Either way, someone can be sent out to get you back into your car and assist you in getting a new set of keys.

When you need help, just call the toll-free number given to you at the time of your enrollment. The service will send out someone to assist you quickly. They will give you the name and ETA of that person. In some cases, you can even track their location on a map on your phone so you will know the second they arrive to help.

Response times may vary due to weather, your location, and how busy the service is at that time. Generally, the response is very quick though, so you and your passengers will not stay stranded for very long. That is why this type of coverage is worth the extra money because it gives you peace of mind.
