Chicken Seasoning Rub Is Great For Indoor Cooking

By Gary Bailey

Although outdoor grilling is a popular pastime for many, not everyone loves the process. First, you have to determine whether the weather is appropriate. While some will fire up the grill in the rain, the experience is not quite the same. Then there is the preparation, which may include adding smoke chips for additional flavor. For those who do not have that kind of time on their hands, chicken seasoning rub can bring some of the same smoky taste to poultry.

This is another area that separates a quality grilling experience from one that may be rushed or have a step missing. The flavor of the food never lies. Some people feel that drowning their beef, chicken, or pork in a barbecue sauce is the remedy but there are some ways to get that outdoor taste.

The great thing about using a rub is that everything is there in terms of flavor. Most quality brands use the freshest ingredients that are vacuum sealed before being placed on grocery store shelves. Even better, many of these have a minimal amount of sugar, sodium, or cheap fillers. When fresh herbs and spices are used in a recipe, too much of anything else is just overkill.

These rubs are also great for kids who are just learning how to cook. When they are first starting, they may not have the patience for measuring and getting the hang of food handling may take some time. However, when kids or newbie home chefs have a shortcut, they can focus more on preparing side dishes or clean up.

For those who love their air fryer, here is a simple recipe for cooking a whole chicken. After cleaning and cutting, place one cup of rub seasoning inside a medium plastic bag. If necessary, preheat air fryer on medium high before getting started. Then add two to three pieces of damp chicken to the bag and seal before giving a good shake.

Some brands have a small window on the package that allows consumers to see the dried herb pieces. Many gourmet brands also use a tight seal that keeps the flavor. So when the package is opened for the first time, the aroma should waft from the package immediately.

Chicken flavors are normally versatile, which means it can be used on the seafood or shellfish. For those not experienced in the kitchen, the best types of fish for rub seasonings are dense in texture. Cod, salmon, and swordfish are great examples and, unlike shellfish or those with a lot of bones, these are very easy to cook on the stovetop. Most fish filet and steak cuts can also be baked for a few minutes. However, instead of covering the fish in its entirety, covering one flat side should do the trick.

Using a rub is also a great alternative for those who are watching what they eat. The caloric count is minimal and most are fairly low in sodium and sugar. Most people who choose marinated foods over those that have been fried find losing excess weight much easier. This change can also stave off some chronic ailments like elevated cholesterol levels.
