The Technology Behind Sunglasses Lens Types

By Elizabeth Sanders

There are numerous causes that cause impaired vision one of them being excess exposure to sunlight. In order to protect the eyes against such harmful rays, then sunglasses should be worn most of the times when out under the sun. Getting sunglasses lens types that are top of the line quality is therefore important. They should be made using eco-friendly materials so as to guarantee style, comfort, and most importantly durability.

Good sunglasses should possess some quality features. For one the infusion molding process should be used during manufacture. One of the most common things that cause bad vision are layers meaning that a higher number of layers will cause distortion and limit vision. This is normally witnessed in glasses where the layers have been glued to the lens. However, in infusion molding process, the glasses created are clear and provide optimum quality.

Sunglasses should possess certain features in order for them to reach top of the line quality threshold. One involves the manufacturing process where the infusion molding process should be used. Most glasses are made by gluing the layers onto the lenses. This, in turn, causes optical distortion, since there are basically too many layers. However, in glasses where the infusion molding process has been used, more clarity is provided; thus, ensuring accuracy.

The lenses have to be highly polarized. When the eyes are exposed to the rays of the sun for extended periods of time, vision tends to become distorted. This, in turn, causes both the brain and eyes to strain too much since visual clarity is interfered with. However, lenses that have maximum polarization will tend to filter the different types of color bands so that only a natural spectrum of color is allowed to pass through the lenses.

In addition, the lenses should be top notch. Some of the material used in the manufacture process is a form of Polycarbonate or Serilium, which is known for its amazing qualities of offering optical clarity in addition to being light and impact-resistant.

The two types of rays, which are usually responsible for impairing vision, are blue and UV rays. Therefore, the type of sunglasses worn should offer a hundred protections against these. In addition, they should also be anti-reflective that is reduce glare. The tint used should also be able to block as much sunlight; thus, offering protection.

When purchasing sunglasses, there are certain things that people tend to overlook. One such thing is whether the glasses offer a good fit or not. It is until they have made the purchase, which they realize that they are not a fit for them. Therefore, in order to avoid such scenarios, try out different ones so that you find the perfect fit for yourself. You should also go for a shape that is both appealing, but also allows for maximum blockage of UV rays.

In conclusion, sunglasses serve a great purpose and that is protecting eyes from the harmful rays that might end up damaging vision. It is, therefore, paramount that you get to know what kind of features to look out for in order to make the right choice.
