Despite the fact that members of public have been told of the effects of drinking and driving this trend continues to increase. Drugs have adverse effects on how one reasons and makes judgment. It is not only hard drugs that impair the way one makes decisions on the road. If over the counter drugs are misused they also affect their driving skills.

People rule out the effects of marijuana thinking it does not affect how one thinks. It affects areas of the brain and body movement taking control of the body of a driver. It affects how one estimates the speed of driving and can make one to over speed. In Chicago more cases of teenagers aged between 18-25 have been reported caught driving while drunk with most being high school seniors.

The amount of alcohol in the body of a driver is considered too much if it exceeds 0.05%. Officers argue out that one is in a position to make decisions but still they can make mistakes. At this level there is no need to check if they can see or talk properly since they are immediately charged with drunk driving. It is a crime to drink and drive.

In case you are charged with drunk driving you stand a chance of losing your job or never getting employed in some companies. They take it as if you are a reckless person thus cannot trusty you with any work. It is also very embarrassing for your family members and friends to see you being charged with a crime you would have prevented.

Driving while sober could be tasking but when drugs are added it makes it worse. If an officer pulls you over and detects you could be intoxicated they perform several tests on you to gauge your sobriety. It is not worth it for one to lose their driving license over something they could prevent. If you kill somebody at this time you could be charged with manslaughter which could result to imprisonment.

Distracted driving is indirectly put as part of drugged driving. Texting is worse since it takes the important senses they eyes, hands and the brain.
