Useful Information On Pipeline Stringing

By Angela Hughes

When you are thinking about a profitable venture, you should consider natural gas drilling. The pipes used in the transportation of natural gas should have a steel mill construction. If you have thought about this venture, you also need to deliberate on various factors. You also should think about the amount of time you need in completing the blueprint. Ensure you read the points below on pipeline stringing before you start the project.

Stringing is very important in the construction process. It is an activity that needs your attention since each segment is different and if they are misplaced, it may take you a long while to finish. Each pipe needs to be well marked to determine where it belongs on the line. The thickness and the coating used are applied based on the soil conditions and location of the area.

All of the equipment that is utilized in transporting and unloading of the parts are specialized. Truck trailers must not carry ten segments or more at any time. They also need to have the suspension to prevent traveling from being hazardous. Many companies available that do installation normally utilize vacuum based lifting technique to safely remove them from trailers.

Bending is also another crucial step in this entire process. There are large devices which normally takes segments of pipes and bends them. This ensures that they can curve where necessary and can fall and rise with elevation. These machines are equipped with a given bending die and set that is determined by the diameter of a pipe. You should note that curving the pipes wrongly or utilizing the wrong equipment will lead to delays.

Ensure you have the license required before you start the task. You need to come up with a written agreement for the project. In addition, all boundaries where construction will take place must be well marked. These flags are imperative in marking the magnitude of construction area that surrounds the right of way. How wide it is determined by the width of the pipelines.

Before you commence, it is important you clear all the staging areas. The areas are normally used in storing sandbags, fuel tanks, equipment parts, silt fencing, stakes and in stockpiling of pipes. They offer parking space for members of staff, space for keeping construction equipment and location for office trailers. Once they have been cleared, gravel should be used for covering while wood timber needs to be used for reinforcing the trench.

Trench excavation is done soon after the right of way is cleared of trees. Make sure you get the correct equipment useful in getting rid of stones during digging. Place sandbags within the dug trench to help in supporting the pipes and restricting the flow of water. After completion of the trench, pre-coated pipe segments need to be transported to the right of way from the stockpiles.

Before completion of the blueprint, the pipeline integrity needs to be verified using hydrostatic testing. If it remains intact after the test, it is considered operational. While many of them are underground, there are a number of supporting infrastructure constructed. Compressor stations and facilities which maintain pressure level are built.
