Using Faux Bois Decor Is Great For Neutral Color Spaces

By Carolyn Baker

Some people choose to go with earth tones for a room because they often feel it is the safest choice. While there are some great interior schemes that are mostly brown, a good number of people tend to make this boring. The reason is the lack of texture throughout. It does not have to be anything extravagant but something like chevrons, subtle stripes, or a faux bois decor can make a difference.

Going with a line design pattern is usually a safe choice when done sparingly. It is also great for those who may prefer an analogous or monochromatic color scheme. Small lines can add interest that will outlast most interior decor trends, as opposed to something like paisley designs or polka dots.

A good suggestion would be to consult a color wheel, as these can be found online with short explanations for use. One may find that a complementary color with a lined or circular pattern may be the perfect solution to their home design challenge. If a person has a beige living room, adding a teal or green area rug with beige lines is an easy way to transform a space without a lot of labor.

Normally, people who rent tend to feel the most stifled when it comes to decorating but there are some alternatives. If the lease permits wall hanging, quilts or other wall art with a simple line design bring a little more flair than plain off white walls. Curtains or other window treatment with a vibrant pattern can be another option.

More people rely on earth tones because they are simple and generally easy to maintain in homes with pets or small children. Lines or wood patterns are great for practical spaces that may hide small stains or tears caused by everyday use. These are also ideal for the person who may be too busy to worry about maintaining a house beyond basic cleaning.

This pattern can also be found in a lot of functional objects in a multitude of colors. For those who favor greens, pinks, or red, there are many designers using this with different fabrics and materials. Lampshades, side tables, and storage containers are just some of the ways to add something different to a room.

There are many templates that can be used on fabric as well as solid surfaces. Lines can be painted on or buying spray paint that gives a fake wood look can be the fastest way to decorate that does not cost a fortune. Home stores and craft retailers not only have products but classes that can help with the application or inspire new ideas.

Since some line designs can be found on vintage items, the right product may be found at a yard sale or thrift store. For those who want to learn more about home decor should take the time to peruse different sites and learn about emerging designers who have an affinity for retro designs and products. Viewing these sites can inspire the perfect room transformation that combines comfort and a style that catches the eye immediately.
