By Jose Long

It used to be that when a person wanted to make a purchase, they got in their car and drove to the local store. That isn't so anymore. Since the dawn of the Internet, people have broken free from the walls of traditional stores. Now they can literally shop all over the world without leaving their home. As with any purchase, there are positive things to consider and drawbacks to buying from an online Charlottesville Watch Shop.

Before you shop for your next timepiece, be it a Citizen timepiece or an Invicta timepiece or any timepiece for that matter, it is a good idea to know how timepieces are classified. Timepieces are classified as either quartz timepieces or mechanical timepieces. Mechanical timepieces are further broken down to automatic timepieces (automatic winding) and manual wind timepieces.

Mechanical timepieces consist of all mechanical components and hence the name mechanical timepieces. Mechanical timepieces do not need a battery. Quartz timepieces do need a battery. Quartz timepieces get their name from the quartz crystal that is in use in the movement.

Always compare the prices- There are many watch shops out there. Chances are, they will sell their products at different prices as well. At a lower level, the price range might be small. But if you take a look at luxury watches, you will see a huge difference! That's why you should always visit at least 3 or 4 shops and find the best prices before making the final decision.

However, mechanical timepieces are view as more than just timepieces; they are pieces of art. They are canvases where timepiecemakers showcase their creativity and skills. Even a simple mechanical timepiece can have over 100 parts in them compared to just a few dozen in quartz timepieces. It is not difficult to see that it takes far more expertise to put a mechanical timepiece together. Knowing whether you want a quartz timepiece or a mechanical timepiece will help you filter out a significant number of choices.

There is no other store that allows you to shop in total privacy. There will be no children screaming or running through the isles, and there are no pushy sales people to try to sell you some timepiece that you do not need.

Some of the downfalls to shopping for a timepiece online is that you cannot try the timepiece on. Sure you can get a good look at it, but you will not know how well it fits or if you will be irritated by it. If you must do your timepiece shopping this way, be sure to go with a company that will allow you a simple return if it is not what you imagined.

What to look for? Once you determine whether you want a quartz timepiece or a mechanical timepiece and the kind of complications you want it to have, it is time to look at some materials. Case materials: Popular timepiece materials for timepiece cases are stainless steel and titanium. Stainless steel and titanium are good because and they are durable. Titanium is lighter than stainless steel but much stronger. However, it has a duller look compares to stainless steel. Titanium tends to be a little more expensive than stainless steel.
